Army to Provide Retirement Retribution to Alaska WWII Militia

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Secretary of the Army has authorized emergency funds to supplement a reduction in retirement pay for veterans of a largely Native militia formed to guard the territory of Alaska during World War II, Alaska’s congressional delegation said Wednesday.
The reduction was a result of misinterpretation of a federal law that recognized the Alaska Territorial Guard’s service as federal active duty, Army officials said last week. A new interpretation of the law says service in the five-year guard no longer counts toward the military’s 20-year minimum for retirement pay.
According to the congressional delegation, Army Secretary Pete Geren will use an emergency fund to cover the retirement benefits for 26 former members of the largely Native guard. The monthly pay amounts to as much as $557.
The funds will cover two months’ pay while Congress works to fix the law to allow service in the unit to count as active duty for calculating retirement benefits.
Alaska’s congressional delegation applauded Geren’s move, saying that cutting off the pay would be detrimental to those veterans.
“In this era of high fuel and food costs, it would be tragic to reduce the retirement checks of these elders who have done so much for our nation,” said Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska.
An estimated 300 members are still living from the original 6,600-member unit formed in 1942 to protect the territory of Alaska from the threat of Japanese attack. Only a fraction had enough other military service to reach the 20-year requirement for retirement pay.
The territorial guards — nicknamed Uncle Sam’s Men and Eskimo Scouts — received no pay or benefits for the job. Many took jobs as scouting patrols or did construction work on military airstrips.
The unit was disbanded in 1947, nearly two years after the war ended.
Congress passed a law in 2000 qualifying time served in the guard as active federal service. The Army agreed in 2004 to grant official military discharge certificates to members or their survivors. Those who qualified for military retirement benefits began receiving increased pay for service in the militia starting last June, when the former members also received retroactive payments to the law’s passage in 2000.

Dignity isn’t defined by “technical evolution”, or world economical sovereignty. it is as a Person’s walking stride when they are happy, the eleven year old “boy” walking down a busy public street HAND-IN-HAND… with HIS FATHER. (Integrity is a close “relative: [Intertwined].)Merriam’s, again, tells us in its first definition:an adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty.
Dignity is of the VIRTUES:[Merit, valor, potency are the \"lesser\" virtues.]
To “end” this, DIGNITY seems to be the manifestation of HONESTY.

Yes, this IS day 93 left of the ‘HUNDRED’, but it IS too much.
So I thought that a small, but, BRIGHTER terse might be better to bring to MIND. The title might have drawn readership with… “NICE R.A.K. !”… “r.a.k. equaling Random Acts of Kindness, something that is almost an empty energy in this world as we see how people treat each other, at least what we notice.
But wouldn’t it be refreshing to see us put together things like “May/ December” knit-a- sweater “BEES” ? “Young” learning, or teaching, with “older” “citizens”. People gathering from all over, (city-”urban” and the “subs” sitting together and teaching each other the skills and arts of CLOTHING one’s self and family/ Loved ones.) Cooking “BEES” that return “WORTH” to our aging, but in turn teach the “worth” of work’s blessings. And since the education departments in the cities “don’t” have the money for the arts of maintaining a home’s many needs Men could hold “BOY” raisings teaching them how to mend the roofs over their heads.
If you’ve seen the movie “GRAND TORINO” starring Clint Eastwood, I hope that the crux that you saw was of a MAN giving a MAN-TO-BE as many tools as he had time to supply, for the world that he’d known, for a world that needed re-pairing.
The thing that we are losing/ destroying is our ability to be a GROUP “of”, instead a MASS,( as in CANCEROUS-LIKE.), of separate things with no relevance to the other.

After finding an article, on Slashdot, that told of one of the Nations filthiest and most needed to clean dumps, near Hanford, Washington, (eight years on the PRIORITY List of the SUPER FUND.), had found an old safe that had been opened to find a quantity of WEAPONS GRADE Plutonium dating to the World War Two, American HYPER OFFENSIVE MANHATTAN PROJECT. In the story there was NO MENTION of WHO the safe HAD belonged to, or whether there had been any report(s) of anyone suffering from an acute case of ‘RADIATION POISONING’ since 1942 or 43.
But, by and large, the things that President Obama is strengthening are those things that may be of help in the future for WOMEN 1.) [The ONLY true TRACKING source for HERITAGE. ]. As the FATHER of two, “in training” , he MUST do the best he can to make sure that CHOICE, (As in using one’s well trained AND organized MIND/ MINED.), IS the MOST INTELLIGENTLY and FREQUENTLY used G-D given RIGHT.

As one of the “golden” children who’ve decided to place a thought or opinion in the electronic tome called WORDPRESS.COM I believe that it’s time to really try to exact a little of the same type of excitement that Gutengerg drew when he lowered that first plate of letters.
Today is the first business day of President Barack Hussein Obama’s four year tenure as the PRESIDING LEGISLATOR of the United States of America. With that tiny bit of fanfare I am now setting you all/ ya’ll/ yawl up for a, hopeful, grand “LEXPERIMENT”. The objective of this “LEXERCISE” is to bring as much information on ONE subject, from as many locational opinions as the internet will allow. As events take place around the world, that may have an influence on any of us, and should be reported to give each of us a FORE WARNING of ANY TYPE of “climate” change.
My GOAL is to say SOMETHING on this page about what THIS President is DOING about something that pertains to America thus the WORLD. And do so with as many leads / “breadcrumbs” as necessary to assist a “SEEKER” to find some “ANSWERS”. The BEST PART of this ‘insanity’ is that I’m INVITING all to leave/ insert/ drive an informative piece/ bit/ flavoring back to this site TO COMPLETE the “LEXIOGRAPHIC” VISIONS that this should paint. The premise began MORE THAN 100 years ago. A way to “get there” without the Hay/ Manure connection of the time (1834), or the GLOBAL ENERGY Phlebotomists ‘ZELOTSIES’ overworking Earth’s circulatory systems of TODAY. Vehicles that get power from (‘INSTANTLY’) replaceable ELECTRICITY ,[They had it right, but let the greedy decide.], DON’T have the combined problems that FOSSIL FUELS “bless” us with. But the monopolysts like John D. Rockefeller, (STANDARD OIL), funded vehicle engine designers and builders to make their power plants more “efficient”/powerful, ( NOT to exclude the fact that U.S. born and bred Thomas Alva EDISON was having to “work” around the exceedingly brilliant Nicoli TESLA and their opposed views of how electricity was delivered, (Edison= ‘Direct Current’ vs Tesla= ‘Alternating Current’). {As a side note to this: Tesla’s original power plant , in NIAGRA FALLS, is STILL working. Edison attempted to “ruin” his competition’s “baby” by suggesting that ‘AC’ be used for the FIRST PUBLIC EXECUTION by ELECTROCUTION. The attempt obviously failed. And as I write this Tesla’s name has resurfaced as a forward thinking alternative to “DETROIT’S” fuel wasting fare. [Brilliance = LONGEVITY.]}

99% of the first American motor coach builders abandoned electric vehicles for the easier INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE, power was easier to get with how BUSINESS was scheming to increase their “profiteering”. ( I DON’T believe that my statement is wrong here… do YOU!?!)
There have been so many articles written, and by how the OIL COMPANIES have continued to “RAPE for PROFIT”, it’s obvious that too many OF those HAVE GONE UNREAD !(to the TENTH POWER!). SO, now that the world has FINALLY had ENOUGH many of the personal transportation manufacturers (CAR COMPANIES=”DETROIT”) are again looking at ELECTRICITY’S environmentally SUPERIOR abilities which had a modest thought in 1959 [An industral "HENNEY PENNEY".]but were financially pummeled into submission.
The Detroit Car Show is IN PROGRESS as I write, with many makers FINALLY seeing how OUR PAYCHECKS are to AFFECT their own . In today’s REUTERS News article Michigan’s Governor was seen with HER constituents holding signs of how their home’s industry is getting “CHARGED UP” over their income provider’s new “intelligence”. [You'll definately GET the PUNCH lines.] And GM’S Bob Lutz is attempting to LURE public/ consumer thought by ‘GRAFTING’ the thought of “federal” incentives being offered to those buying electric vehicles, (as opposed to GM making a BETTER PRODUCT in the first place.). To keep “every- thing/ one/ BOB’S SALARY, afloat.
BUT, NO MATTER what these purveyors of “Powered POOP” are telling us at this moment there remains a FACT that the “HOLLI-BULL-HOOPLA” HAS NOT ADDRESSED… A battery powered vehicle that contains NO DEVICE TO REPLENISH THE CHARGE WILL CONTINUE TO MAKE THE PUBLIC INDEBTED TO FUEL PROVIDERS !!!! Since their new electric fare HAVE NO MEANS to re-establish the lost/ used energies of said battery bank then the “automobile of the FUTURE” will continue to have the SAME INTRINSIC ABILITIES to scuttle consumer faith and ecological stewardship that its predecessors have. THAT”S RIGHT the same presidents and engineers who brought us “PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE” are BACK, (yours and mine !), at it. Whosoever is in cahoots with BOB LUTZ and COMPANIES to make the batteries, ( BOB used to work for EXIDE!), have worked out just a small enough business plan to make sure that those power sources won’t/ can’t be turned into the HYPER EFFICIENT devices that ANY SEVENTH-GRADE INDUSTRIAL ARTS CLASS COULD PRODUCE. In a “simple(tons”) view: IF you attach a device that PRODUCES, then TRANSFERS,a sufficient amount of energy to offset that expended… you may come CLOSE to having ‘SELF PERPETUATING ENERGY DEVICE’. All that would be necessary is some way to create a significant enough initiating charge/ discharge to make some sort of restorative to allow said battery bank to function as an efficient, economical and ecologically cohesive TOOL of, NOT SO “LOCO”-MOTION.
DO “THE HOMEWORK”:ONE SIMPLE, ALREADY INVENTED/ IN-USE DEVICE THAT HAS BEEN CONSPICUOUSLY OMITTED FROM THE “NEW” VEHICLE LINE-UPS, ( what a proper scenario!), COULD ACTUALLY MAKE THE ELECTRIC VEHICLE THE KEEPER OF THE PROMISED economical car/ truck… the GENERNATOR !?*
Why else would “they” finally put a battery powered vehicle within our reach ? And think of the (as commercially advertised by the RAILROAD Industry.) monetary savings, besides the lack of 1970’s style “associations”we’ll avoid… as well as the available time to spend with friends and family. Ben Franklin told us: ‘A penny SAVED is the middle east de-served’. Thus giving the American/ WORLD driver TRUE “FREEDOM of the ROAD”.

P.S.: Detroit has been left at the (“given the”…) gate by those that INVENTED the very thing they’ve squandered. (money, paper that is.) [Detroit says this is just the begining.] It’s a shame when one forgets that thing that got them where they were most comfortable … without being LAZY.
* With a simple “starter” battery the “car” begins movement thus spinning the generator’s rotor producing the initial creation of power. As the “car” is moving the generator comes into use to provide the batteries with replenishment as they discharge to move the “car”. This IS a very parochial description of what may actually take place, but I’m sure that a truly educated individual could/ will put this idea to its proper use.
For a man that was appointed by a Bush it seems funny that his call for a “cost-of-living” increase for those that are, LITERALLY, guaranteed consistent WORK in THIS day and age. With the absolute collapse of our economy, brought about from GREED, it is absurd for those to be “BENEFITING” by what their financial “PEERS” wrought. People who have “lost everything” are going to “need a place a to stay for awhile”. [to avoid having to SLEEP on a bench.]. The man leading the push for ALL Federal Judges to receive a 30% pay increase, [Federal judicial salaries in 2008 ranged from $169300 for trial judges to $217400 for the chief justice. Under legislation backed by Roberts, those salaries ... (Bloomberg)= [Is he making the \"RIGHT\" decision ?]
In the entertainment industry we that are NOT the “PRETTY” ones have had a few ‘cost-of-living’ increases, but these have been coupled to studios and theatres not being able to “book”, ( that’s right, “Dan-O”.), as many or as lengthy “runs” to make those “increases” pertinent. In that “rule of THUMB”, (U-GES-DAH-PLAYS-MINT), it IS a little like biting the hand that (will) feed you. [And YOU\'RE not making enough !?!] Getting paid to do your job is always in “GOOD JUDGEMENT”. My hope is that those of us regular folk that couldn’t go to college as a “LEGACY” will be good enough make sure that we judge our situation as “what the DIPS along life’s road have dealt us” and that the “management” teams living in their gated communities will see the wolves that they’ve become… and not accrue a possible “bounty” on themselves.
